Fz150 manual focus

Am i so pathetic despite using cameras and camcorders for many years i cant work out how to manual focus with my FZ150 without taking an age to get focus, twisting the wheel on the back moves the bar very slowly is it me,its the only downer on what i think is a very good camera.Lucky in most instances AF works great but there are times when it wont focus onto something zoomed in.Also i can use the i zoom feature but can can not find any way to use the EZ zoom from which i have seen some brilliant close ups.

i haven't had this focus problem - have you tried changing the metering?

Yes when on manual mode aperture or iris trying to manualy focus especial zoomed in is nigh on impossible with my FZ150,lucky its rarely needed.

You mention there are times when it won't focus when zoomed in- are you too close to subject- and beyond cameras focus range(at that zoom setting)? Maybe zoom out and move closer? Switch to macro..?

On my FZ38, EZ-zoom is automatic when you set the image size to be anything less than the maximum. Probably the same in the FZ150.

Oh ok so your saying if i was zoomed partly between wide and full 12x its on EZ zoom,i dont get that and guess i am off track, does EZ zoom only work on stills possibly.

MartinSykes Jan 20, 2012 5:09 AM

Yes, on my FZ38 at least, EZzoom is only for stills.

If I have it set to say 5MP then I can zoom from 1x to 18x as usual using the optical zoom. I can then zoom further from 18x to 28x using the EZzoom.

I *think* that from 1x to 18x it is using the full 12MP sensor and resizing it down to 5MP. From 18x to 28x it is just using a smaller and smaller area in the centre of the sensor.

Perhaps a switch to centre area focusing at full zoom may help also...?
