Can you use the zoom during video? The FZ8 couldn't.

Does anyone know when it'll be release state side?

My wish list: Adjustable zoom in video mode.

Hot shoe missing!

Amazon.com says it's available Oct/10th. I'm hoping the 18x lens works well with the old small CCD. So far, none of the new long zoom cameras met the expectations (Sony H9 and Oly 550UZ both have image issues at the long range of the zoom as well as some focus problems). I'm looking forward to the new Pana.

It appears that is missing and that alone will simply not do for me. Too bad.

8Mp on the same ol' dinky 1/2.5 sensor... *sigh* and looking at the test images, it looks like it still doesn't handle high contrast any better than my FZ20. as expected, max aperture at max zoom is now smaller, f/4.2, but that's still darn fast for a 500mm lens... seems to me the lens guys at Panasonic are advancing a lot faster than the sensor side... it'll be interesting to see how this one is received.
