hi

ok just got the fz30.

looking either at the lcd or view finder, if the light is fairly bright and i pan the camera slowly the screen update (the picture)is really smooth. When the lighting drops a bit and i pan again the screen update is more jerky.

I dont know if ive changed something or its what happens to all fz30's. Can someone tell me if this is normal please.

thanks

Simon

Could it be the autofocus?

I'll have a look myself when I get home.

thanks, ive tried it with auto focus on and manual, and continuous focus on and off. still the same

I'm not entirely sure, but I've seen something similar in a store while trying out the FZ30. Try turning the digital zoom off, and turn continous auto focus off as well.

Hi, this is normal behaviour.
The camera simply wants to give you a bright enough live preview of what it sees.
If the light gets low, then it has to collect more light to give you a bright image. This takes longer, of course. Thus the framerate drops down. Got it?

Got it, loud n clear.

As long as other fz30's do this im happy.

What's all this about?

I switched my FZ30 on in my office, looked through the EVF and very slowly panned the camera round. The image was smooth. No jerking. This was with the light dimmer turned to full on (3 x 60 watt spots lights).

I did the same with the dimmer turned down so far that I could hardly see the room. It was the same - smooth, no jerking.

What have I misunderstood about your observation? How are you aware of the screen updating?

Just opened ours last night. Room is lit by 2 40-60 watt bulbs. It pans as described, framing. It reminds me of progressive photo mode on my Sony VX2100 (15fps), but worse as it points to the dark area in the ohter room.
