Out of all of them, I think the last is the best.

Exactly. It's a very revealing photo and, to me, makes a statement.

If I didn't have my company picnic at Core Creek Park, I would have been there with my FZ10, and my brand spankin' new Canon 20D.

Looks like even with 12x zoom you couldn't see the acts.:-)

Very nice...they catch the mood perfectly!
I had to watch the UK one on tv as could not get a ticket eventhough I only live ten minutes away from the site! The last one is great in the light of all the information during the concert how many people are dying due to poverty in Africa (1 every 3 seconds) while the audience where watching those in-between-acts films happily munching away on snacks and then throwing the rubbish on the streets. In London it was even more obscene with the "golden circle" at front where people had paid £1000 for a ticket and then sitting at the bar drinking champagne and pigging on nice food while those films played on screens in front of them. The free ticket people were not let anywhere near the stage! The gold circle were mostly occupied by corporate people who had not even paid for their ticket themselves. The real fans were kept at the back unable to move or even go to the toilet as they woudl not be able to get back to where they had been originally. But a nice day of music though and certainly raised a lot of awareness. |

If he got to the press section, 12X would have been more than enough. Where he is shooting from is actually quite a ways back from the stage. I shot there for July 4th, but had just gotten my Canon 20D on the 2nd..well, I didn't cary the Pansonic with me, and didn't expect the press section to still be almost a half block off of the stage. With my 17-85mm lens fully telephoto, Elton was just barely small enough to not really be able to see the details of his face. If I'd have brought my FZ10, I'd have been fine.
