There don't seem to be any big improvements... |

Indeed. No big improvements. Just more pixels. For the best part, that's about it.

- manual focus
- video mode up to 848x480 at 30 fps - up to 60 sec. shutter speed - better flash - more shooting modes - "joystick" - still sporting a Leica lens (thank God!!!) and OIS (masseltoff!) - hopefully a better CCD? Let's wait and see ... not bad but the new LCD won't kick butt; don't like placement of the EVF; higher ISO only at smaller image sizes (who needs 'em anyway?) I don't think I'll trade my fresh FZ5 in for the FZ7 - would be too expensive for me at first anyway. |

I kind of still like the look of the FZ5. I think they shoudl have up'd the EVF to 235 instead of keeping it to 114k, and that made me wonder if they improved the resolution of the LCD to 235k , esp as its now 2.5"? Just hoping that extra MP onto the same CCD doesn;t mean that there's more noise over the FZ5.
Overall, I'm lookign forward to the review. Cheers HarjTT PS Just spotted this on DCresource: New high sensitivity mode lets you shoot at ISO 1600 - now how are they achieving that ? Droping the res to 2-3MP |

The bundled hood adapter accepts 52mm add-ons. Is this the same bungled hood adapter design as with the fz3/4/5? What is this optional lens adapter (DMW-LA2) "required" for 55mm add-ons. 52mm add-ons don't need it. Must be nothing more than a 52-55mm step up ring.
All in all, Pany has followed suit nicely, IMO. Nothing earth shattering or particularly upgrade-demanding to the fz5 but, for those who waited, it seems the wait was worth while. They acknowledged the need for higher iso (though at less resolution to get it as with recently announced lz3/5). Lets see how it does. The EZ feature will be fun to play with. Manual focus and exposure are nice. Larger lcd is nice. I think Panasonic should be commended for keeping the small size with some nice added features. Let's see how the photos look. I don't like the placement of the ev over the lcd inviting nose-grease issues. But, who nose? ;-) |

The [email protected] is pretty cool but the extra megapixel and the fact that the CCD sensor is the same size as the FZ5's is not a big encouragement. Hopefully, the noise won't be more of an issue than on the FZ5.
I got a question. If I'm not missing something, why on earth didn't they call it FZ6? I mean, it was only common sense to put 6 after 5 and not 7. P.S. Hope they won't do the same to the FZ40: more pixels, same CCD size. |

Oh, I almost forgot: the FZ7 should've joined Fuji concerning RAW. Why not, Panasonic?
Hehe ... Samsung's new 10-MP-CCD needs a home - I hope not the FZ40! Wanna buy the FZ7? Download operating instructions. |
