so, after i'd rattled of a couple of dozen shots of this little fellow perched on a branch, he decided to get down to it and start some serious hunting. the lily pads have taken over this part of the lake, and this time of year, they almost completely cover the water. they look thick enough to walk on, and apparently for some, they are!

Like the first best...the way that the birds posture follows the branch is quite nice.

I like the stalking pose of the first one, his wings are cocked and ready to propel him toward his prey.

Nice shots. Birds really don't weigh very much. I have seen them walking on things that don't look near as strong as lily pads.
