Been a while since I've posted a moon pic. I saw the half moon up there tonight and decided to try a couple. Original intent was to try a HDR image from bracketed shots. I couldn't manage to get any decent results, so here's just a normal shot.
Manual exposure & focus Tripod used with remote shutter release. A bit of PP applied. |

I definitely prefer shooting a half to crescent moon. Much better shadows and details visible. I'll probably try again in the next couple of nights, then wait until the other half is light in a couple of weeks. Will probably get even better results next month when the temps drop and we get that cool, clear air.
RealMash - I used a Olympus TCON 17 teleconverter. Thanks for looking! |

Nice one, it sure has more detail then with a full moon. I recently shot one in the early evening when you could see the moon very clearly but it was still light enough it appeared white. I was really surprised at the detail it showed.

Should have remebered the topic-, thanks!
Yep, I have a setup close to this. Did you go to a place where less light, pollution and turbulent air were present? I never get the pics that razorsharp. Close, but as yet not just as good as yours;-) Cheers, RealMash |
