Thanks for all the kind words, folks!

RealMash, I didn't have to go any further than my own back yard. Fairly cool temps though, so the air was pretty dry. I live in the suburbs, pretty far from most city lights though I doubt light pollution would be much of an issue with something as bright as the moon.

Manual focus seems to be the only way I can get sharp pics of the moon. I generally hit the focus button to get a reference point, then shoot, adjust, check, shoot again.... until I finally get it as sharp as I can. It helps to set the cam to 1 MB EZ mode. Fills the LCD on review so you can get a better idea of focus. Once it's dead on, switch to 8 MB again. Works for me anyway.

Great shot. I just tried a few shots, nothing I want to share. I gave up, the mosquitoes were just too bad nite.Maybe my cam just doesn't work right or it's me.

Wonderful! I saw the moon tonight and sure wanted to take a picture but just didn't get a chance. I would have to drag my equipment to the grocery store to get a visible shot. :-)

To Bayourebel: No, it is darn Hard!
Had to do several hundred before I did have some decent ones!

A good tripod, setting focus and exposure automatic to the smallest setting and use self timer were the first steps I had to take! And a Tcon17 of course ;-)

I still envy those pics. Will have to try again.
the climate here is very humid. Maybe I´ll try at my Parenst place, a lot cooler and dry there.
