Looks like he (or she?) is guarding the offspring - I saw a white silk-cotton ball in the folded leaf.

Thanks Ted, Jim, Hiroshi and, of course, Harj - youmotivated me to try these shots. I did some quicksearch on arachnids and found that some varities like this one keep their eggs in silk cocoons - so that's what she is holding on to! I now know where she lives and let me see if I am able to catch when the eggs hatch.
