Hi, I purchased a used Hoya Polarizing filter, and it works well on my Panasonic Fz5, but I am looking to buy a Nikon D50, and would like to be able to carry over this filter. The problem is i cant tell if its a circular or a linear polarizer. Along the edge it says HOYA PL 55 JAPAN. Thanks for your help.

According to the supplier I use, www.dvdreamtime.com.au,linear polarizing filters should not be used with digital camras, only circular ones. Your filter appears to be a linear one therefore should n't have been much use on your FZ5... Very confusing...I suggest you look at the above site as the filters are illustrated and remarked upon

For more info on polarizers than you probably need, see http://dpfwiw.com/polarizer.htm#circular
