caught this heron today at the park, just after he'd speared a nice little carp... he was about 60 yards away, and i had my TCON-14B on, but even so, i had to crop enough that the image quality suffered... i miss my 30D and that marvelous Sigma lens!! anyway, here's a couple of pics...

Nice catch squirl. Any news with your 30D?

Great catch on your part and the Herons :D:D

In the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens I oftens see such a Heron perched on the thin ice or no fishing sign at one of the water lily pools. The Heron draws a tremedous crownd of on lookers/photograpers that silently watch and wait (just like at a pro golf game)as the Heron draws a bead on a passing goldfish down the length of his beak. When the Heron feels the time is right he/she punces on it and crowds lets out a cheer tocelebrate his/her catch.
