Hi yaall!

I have just ordered FZ20 and have been trying to get some first hand info about it's inddor capability. I had been sold on to Canon S1 IS but had to change my decesion because of it's bad indoors performance as stated by many. I cannot afford to have two cameras for different uses. I wan my camera to be able to do long zooms as well as indoors with or without flash.

Have I made the right decision in choosing FZ20 over Canon?

wise, what exactly do you mean when you say "indoor performance"?

I have used my FZ20 to shoot indoors and it seems fine. But, I was just kind of casually shooting things inside. ie. Dog sleeping on couch. That sort of thing. I included a couple of indoor pictures with and without flash.

Without Flash

those are very good photos. Dining table is simply great. Well by indoors I meant casual indoor photos of gatherings and some photos of parents and others.

The reasonI wanted to know was that I want to be absolutely sure that FZ20 is that much more compared to Canon S1IS, which I had almost decided upon, because of CF card, NiMH batteries, Vidio etc. The only reason I am buying FZ20 is that S1Is doesn't have AF assist and therefore has very bad results indoors.

I think it does well indoors and you may want to try using an external flash. I have a Sunpak 383 and just recently discovered that you can, when using shutter priority sync the light up to 1/2000 of a second. With it set at about 1/250 of a second it freezes children playing.

Also It does a good job with a rather good lighting indoors without a flash

Its a great camera and you will be fine , might take some time to get the best from it but well worth the time.
