-   -   How to use a polarizer when a hood is attached (

I have an FZ20 with a Hoya UV filter, and I also bought a linear polarizer for it. Now I'm buying a rubber hood (72mm) since I have the Phayee adapter. The problem I see with this is that I can't see how you adjust the polarizer while the hood is on there!

Actually, I just ordered the hood and then had the thought. I wonder if I should get a 62mm hood so it can go on the outside threads of the polarizer. That way I could at least adjust it. But I wonder about vignetting.

I am very new to all this and wonder if some folks can shed some light on use of a polarizer with a rubber hood. Thanks.

i'm not sure if acollapsible hood threaded onto the 72mm "outside" threads on the adapter would interfere with adjusting the filter or not, but i have a phayee adapter, and find it workswell with a 62mmhood. i just screw the hood onto the polarizer, and then it's easy to adjust the polarizer by simply turning the hood.

since you only need the polarizer on bright, sunny days when the hood is a good idea anyway, the two work well together. i have no problem with vignetting, unless i forget to fold back the hood when i use lower zoom settings (i.e. < 4-5x). if you collapse the hood as you're supposed to do when using wide angle settings, there's no vignetting at all.
