I have found that it is a lot easier to just buy a $10 SD memory card reader and hook that up with USB. Then you can use any program to move pictures, like the free Irfanview or Picassa, even Windows Explorer.

To the best of my knowledge its not possible...you can use the monitor for a viewfinder with a Video in card but you can not use the PC to snap the shutter. |

I guess it's a matter of different needs... I for one, don't think would use that feature if I had it available. But.

some of the uses i've read it's best used for on a DSLR is professional portraiture, time lapse photography and astrophotography...a buddy at work usessoftware called DSLRFocus, but then again, he builds and sells custom telescopes...it's very cool to watch a series of time lapse photos taken with his 300D Rebel, it's like watching a movie of the earth revolve and of course, your misc. airplanes and shooting stars go by very quickly...

Try a program called 'Tincam', it is primary for use with a webcam, but it will also remotely control certain cameras, I used it with an old canon via its usb cable to take time lapse stuff, havnt tried it with my FZ30 tho........

The remote shutter schematics have been posted many times. I have a hand held TV to remotely look at the camera image. It is not a hard problem to solve. Ingenuity required? Yes!
