Really interesting shots. I bet they'd be cool with some colored filters.

Hi Ladyhawk,
I guess you are right, but my new cokin filter set arrived after these shots. There are stellar filters which could add nice effects and colours to these objects. Sven |

Those are very nice and you say they were taken with a 7.7 diopter lens?

Thanks Squirl, John and Gene!
Squirl there will be framing, but only for my personal use. Gene you know this old table: http://www.angelfire.com/ca/erker/closeups.html This is my best - priceless - lens: Olympus [8] iS/L Lens A-Lifesize Macro 49 mm +7.7 (3 element) It is similar to the raynox dcr250, but has a larger diameter. Quite difficult to find the focus. I have trained this, but the lcd of the FZ5 is not as sharp as the lcd of the FZ30!. But the main problem is the extreme contrast. I had to use manual settings for all parameters and I needed the histogram all the time, to preserve the white regions. Sven |

Sven - Do you have the dcr250? How does it compare in quality with the oly 8? Ice and macro go real nice together as you demonstrated. See http://www.stevesforums.com/forums/v...mp;forum_id=23

Thanks for the link Fred,
I was thinking of frozen glasses to "catch" snowflakes lateron.... It's pity, I have some achromats (olympus, elpro, sigma, mbs10...), but not a single nikon or raynox lens. My lenses were cheaper at the global flee market. I started a comparison of lenses in the closeup forum. Taking my lcd screen as object solved the light problem - the object was an excel table with 1cm boxes. These were standard procedures which can be used by most of us. Only Ceramyx answered this thread, which could have been our basis for comparisons. I planned a comparison of minimum and maximum field and enlargements of the center and peripheral part. DOF is fixed for the specific diopter. Perhaps we should start this test again? ...but the nikon and raynox lenses are very good, the olympus lenses are good and expensive. I am disappointed with the old elpro lenses - my olympus lenses and the mbs10 (cerambyx) perform better. Sven |
