Just ventured into the city today - was planning to visit Kew Gardens Richmond Park to take picts of deer etc but the light was pretty poor so I decided against it. Instead I just stumbled across an ice rink right next to the Tower of London:

There's quiet a bit of noise in eth shots and I had to fix the WB for a couple of them in Photoshop. the first pic has had some Neatimage applied to it - first time Ive ever used it but the others are all shraight photoshoped - a wee contrast, saturation, levels and USM. Shot at ISO 50 or 100, manual mode.

Love the Gherkin beat me to it. I have been wanting to go up close there but somehow never get organised!
Did you get some more shots?
I fantasize doing some night shots but am so paranoid having a camera out at night as there are so many crack heads etc on the streets at least around where I live (around Oxford Street).

Yeah I have a few more picts of the Gerkin which I'll post as soon as i can - not very good and esp as its is a really lovely building. I should have taken the 28mm OLy with me. Its pretty safe around that part of town and you can walk down to Tower Bridge from there as well - just 5mins. When i was working in Soho I was always weary about going out and taking night shots becuase of the number of nuts about but Hammersmith+Shepersds Bush is just as bad at night.

Its the low light ice skating situations where I really would like to have had the option of using ISO400 and a fast shutter speed. I found focusing a problem too but hey that was my first attempt at a "sports" event in over a year. I'm planning to go again and hopefully when the weathers improved as well.
