Went back to my usual haunt today at a nearby Park. Saw 3 different Heavy jumpers at 3 different locations! One was an adult, quite large, while the other 2 was smaller. So really shot alot of them today. I did a montage of them. Really love their cute eyes and their two tiny 'horns'!
FZ10+6T+Sigma CU, Ext bounce flash, ISO50, F8, various speeds Montage The right bottom one and right middle one was shot with reverse lens. ![]() This is my favourite shot of the day. 1/160s ![]() |

CY, these are simply stunning. my favorite is the same as yours. i notice you have an affinity for jumping spiders... and with those big bright eyes, and your mastery of the close-up art, i can see why. outstanding photos!

Even the branch he is sitting on seems ready to jump! Very nice photos, Tan.

Simply outstanding! I love these detailed shots.
/Q - how far away from the subject are you when you take these? Any other techniques and tips to share?/ Actually, now that I've seen your smugmug site, many of those questions are answered. Inspiring stuff. Thanks. |

Dear Tchuanye
I consider this and your further recent macro posts here on Steve's one of the best wishes for a great 2006. Hyaena Spiders are nice but "stingy", while Jumping Spiders are really cute beings, they nearly express me the same tenderness as kitten. Surely you'll hardly see the snow in Singapore, but you've got tropical, nearly equatorial flora and fauna in the city park ! Thank you PS Rev lens seems to have more restricted a DOF than your usual +4,5 set. What diopter it is equivalent to ? (around +15? ) |

Thanks Narmer!
The reverse lens is reported to have an equivalent of >+20! And yes the DOF is real shallow. I only used x5 to get the shot. I should have used higher zoom for greater mag. but that would mean an even shallower DOF. rgds CY Narmer wrote: Quote:

Beautiful ! I love taking shots of these friendly little guys but I have to say that you've produced some of the best pictures that I've seen anywhere. Really, really great work. I'm impressed!!
