caught this great blue heron winging its way home across the lake as the sun was going down... he was quite distant, probably 200 yards or more, and the light made him just a silhouette, so there's no detail, but i like the shot anyway...

I love this shot! Just my opinion, but I think the silhouette is more effective for this picture than getting detail (though I'm more than willing to admit my ignorance about things photographically - I consider myself maybe an advanced beginner at the moment).
