Hi Moncho, I've never used photoshop elements so I can't comment on it. I use a program called Digital Image Pro from Microsoft. I has a varieties of shadows built into it, plus loads of other features. I start with a 850X638 pixel white background superimpose the picture on top of it and shrink it to show the white edge, then I add the desired shadow and adjust it to the size and darkness I want, then change the color of the white background to complement the picture.

I also has full post processing features to adjust your photographs, plus you can do fun things like this picture...no the cat is not wearing the samurai armor, I superimposed it in.

Very cool shot Hiroshi.

In the duck shot however, I don't like the frame color

Your right, I don't know what I was thinking. Is this better?

Yes, IMO.

It was not the color, but the fact that it did not combinate nicely with thegreen water.

I usually frame in black or white... and with few or no texture at all within the frame (which would be distracting) and eventually with shadows or lines

Picking a frame color for your photos

Concerning the frame color of the duck shot, I found a real neat freeware program that helps pick a compatible color from a photo then use it on the frame. It is called Dot Color. With the program activated, a box appears on the screen that tells you the RGB color components of the pixel under your cursor. Dragyour mouse over your photountil you find a color that you like for your frame, read the RGB values then duplicate that color in your photo editing software and fill your frame with it. It does some other handy things as well, I love this little program and have been using it for quite a while.

You can download it free from:

This can be done using PhotoFiltre. Neat little quick editor.
