This is from the Natural Bridges State Butterfly Preserve in Santa Cruz Ca. The best time for these beautiful creatures is end of Sept. to approx end of Dec. About 2 days before we have our first freezing rain they disappear. Originally they were thought to go to the Los Banos area but they are not really sure where this group goes. They would spend the winter as we are usually a mild temperature zone but for the last 3 to 4 years we have had either snow (freak) or some kind of freezing rain.

I planted myself on the walkway near one of the last raspberry flowers that was in the sun and waited. Here is one of my favorites.

Try to have more blurry backgrounds (composing so that the bkg is farer, or opening to F4,4 - 5,6) at full or nearly so zoom
