I had a stroke of luck regarding these this morning....came across a roost of them in one of my evergreen shrubs. Ample opportunities to experiment with both flash and available light (when the sun made an appearance). Finally got some Ladybird shots I`m happy with, all are cropped to some extent.... :D

First one, taken without flash using available light........

2nd shot, again with available light and no flash, managed to capture the Ladybird opening it`s wing cases on this one..........

Couldnt resist posting this one, 2 of them cuddled up out of the cold wind, this time taken with heavily diffused flash..........

Also managed this one of another species of fly, allaying any rumours the one in my previous shots was a pet LOL.....

Nice shots. You managed to capture the beetles well, as well as a couple of interesting activity shots. So, you really have two pet flies? Do they get along? :-)

After the frustrations of getting that fly pic today I wish I did have pet flies to the weather warms theyre getting a lot more active and don`t stay as still for long now :-)

Well taken! Love your #2. You could consider rotating the shot 90deg CW and slant it abit to improve composition.

Thanks Tchuanye, I`ll have a bit more mess about with the original pics later. These were just cropped, resized and sharpened slightly to regain the detail.Glad you liked this shot after i`d posted the others, nice group photo LOL

Wow, incredible! How do you get your shots so clean and crisp? Also what close up lens are you using?
