That's one big mountain. Good shot.

squirl033 Jul 18, 2005 12:12 AM

thanks. actually, it's the 5th biggest mountainin the lower 48, at 14,410 feet... and it looks even bigger because there's no other peaks around it.

Gorgeous shot squirl - I am envious of the glorious views you have there where you live.

Squirl, thats a great shot.:D I have to ask though. Since dynamic range is often so lacking in shots like this with lots of contrast, did you have to lighten the foreground in this picture? I love the way everything is so nicely lit.

squirl033 Jul 18, 2005 12:42 PM

actually, no, i didn't lighten the foreground. i did kick up the contrast just a smidgen, but the basic lighting was just as it appears. the sun was coming frommy right, which helped a lot, and i used a polarizer and lens hood, but other than that, nothing special.

Hi Squirl, Indeed it was a glorious day and your picture of Mt. Ranier is glorious too. I'm very jealous as my best friends are now mountain hiking in Colorado and I had to miss the trip due to my mother's illness. They told that the flowers this year were the prettiest they had seen. We go every's a tough trip hiking, horse back riding, my age.......I'm not as spry as I used to be. But I love it!!!!!!!! Thanks so much for sharingyour wonderful picture, you did a very nice job!!! bentleysmom
