Last week was photographically great.
I did 3 excursions in 8 days and also went to Roma Photo-Digital expo 2006. In the latter location I bought a second hand Canon FD - 50mm f1.8 lens to reverse (15€) and found the male-male ring 55-62mm. Then threaded the latter to my 72-62m step down ring and to FZ20 adapter. Here is my first +20 diopter hand held macros. [Early this month I'd also practiced with a +41 (24mm) which is impossible to use handheld]. Note that sun light was scarce and I held a bristol paper with my left hand (with some fingers of which I held the adaptor/canon lens too). At 72/432mm the vignetting is low but focussing is harder than at 6-9x zoom. This is a standard FZ20 macro just to give you an idea of dimensions of the insect: ![]() Now Reverse macro, both f8, 1/125sec, 432mm eq., on board flash with white bristol paper near the canon lens: ![]() ![]() Nice to play with this rev lens, but I doubt that it'll give as much fun as Nikon 6T+5T which are easier to manage (longer subject to lens distance, more flash light availableand less focussing problems). But getting micro is an attracting thing for me... We'll se how it works with more natural light. Narmer MACROS |

Promissing start in the micro world, Francesco!
Welcome in the world of DOF-Killers. I needed such exercises to understand what an exellent and difficult task tchuanye is doing in his park. - I stopped drinking coffee - I can hold my breath for more than 1 minute - I should learn some "yoga" techniques But all this is not enough. Sven |

Didn't think about that: but I can hold my breath for more than 2 minutes if I'am steady (also under water).
The focus on the antlers was not very hard to achieve (I mean I didn't have to shoot 20 pics to have 2 good ones, but 1 good each 3 for a total of10-15 shots attempted. Just read an article on a paper about the differences in shadows and contrasts when flash reflection is obtained with a plain paper, a bent paper and a sphere... Francesco |

See you having fun eh!:-)
Well, My initial attempts were very bad, but yours are considerably better! With practice, you will get a better hang of it I am sure! I just got a new canon A610, as my IXUS died on me, and am tyring out my reverse lens on it. Quite good results I must say. As this is a pana forum, I would not post them here, but you can see it here: http://tchuanye.smugmug.com/gallery/...61047663/Large And afew of them before and after this shots. |

You're right Tchuanye, but as I said I think 6T+5T are far more useful and funny , not much for they're easier to use, but because they are more useful for the size of the beings I am interested with. Anyway I' ll experiment much in the future with both combos.
PS Why did you use your Minolta 50mm with the A610 rather than FZ10 ? Less vignetting and more useability at 4x with the 610 ? |

The lens is smaller, so the vignetting is very little at full zoom, and at 5MP, I can crop more. The magnification is not so high as the FZ, and personally, find it easier to handle. |
