Hi all,

I continue to be impressed with the FZ-20. I realize these shots could better, but at speed of 150-180 mph, I'm pleased with the results under the conditions. I cropped and used USM but no noise reduction.

surprisingly #4 came out the best :cool:what were your cam settings ?

JEDinNC May 24, 2005 9:29 PM

Thanks Pappy. Here are the settings:

#1 f2.8 1/200 sec ISO 200

#2 f2.8 1/500 sec ISO 200

#3 f2.8 1/160 sec ISO 200

#4 f3.3 1/60 sec ISO 200

For what it's worth, #2 was pretty dark. I used levels and shadow/highlight to brighten it up a bit. I mainly just tried all sorts of setting trying to find what worked the best. I only had a few hundred yards of open track to frame the cars, pan with them and fire. Most were really bad, either blurred or underexposed. I have posted afew more pics of the days events at:

Very nice Jed! I really like the sensation of speed in shots #1 and #3 from the blurring. Did you pan by hand or on a tripod? Whatever you did, you done good.

Thank you very much. I call it lucky! I panned by hand, forgot and left my tripod at home. It probably wouldn't have done much good for those shots though - I was standing on a scaffold on top of a bus in the infield with people walking aroud. The tripod would have been constantly shaking. I do wish I would have had it later for some of the fireworks shots I tried when the race ended. Thanks for commenting ;)
