Those are great Mary. Really like the first one and the last one. The last one reminds me of a snowflake.

Hope you don't mind but I tried a B&W conversion on the first one, I think I like yours better. If you don't like it I will delete. :)

Beautiful series Mary!! :)
And nice result in B&W Jim, I like it!

thanks for the feedback guys! i think it looks quite nice in b/w. i love that statue, looks like me as a little girl, sans the spikey hair! i wanted the 3.5 foot tall version i drool over every time i am at my local favorite nursery, but she cost $350. :( so i had to settle on the smaller version for $75. i am going to stain her (myself) with concrete stain to give her (me) a more older/vintage look.

thanks again guys. and i must say this is really a nice group of people on this forum! :cool2:

Nice Mary, how soon before the Monarch hatches? I like that last shot, looks like a snowflake!

maryintexas39 May 23, 2012 5:17 PM

had one of the monarchs hatch on saturday. just missed it. :( came home from daughter's college graduation to find her on the patio trying to dry out wings and get her sea legs. there are 5 more that are any day now. hopefully will be able to catch a few. also still have some caterpillars so hopefully will have a few more chrysalis's. :)

Hope you can catch a few Mary.

When I was a little kid, I kept a little pupa like this. When it was ready to hatch, I took it outside to watch a beautiful black butterfly emerge, then immediately get eaten by a of the most traumatic childhood memories.

:( how traumatic indeed.

Mary, great series of shots! I absolutely love the sun and shadows on #1; it's beautiful!

#5 reminds me of a klaidescope!
