tookmy FZ20 with theTCON-14B on it, and wentback to my favorite haunt just before sundown. there was a cooperative heron there, and i came away with these...

Hooray!!! These are so good. Gives me the itch to try again. But first need a shift into spring before we get all the critters into gear up here. If I harp long enuff, maybe that and global warming will bring spring faster. But, back to your shots. They are fantastic. Well done.

Great shots Squirrel. You aren't kidding when you say cooperative. These herons are nervous to say the least. I can't usually get within 100 feet of them before they take off. Maybe someone is feeding it.........cheers.........thekman.

these shots were taken from between about 12 and 20 feet away. no one feeds them, but the area is a wildlife preserve, and they've figured out they're safe. even so, it's rare to get this close, and i'm glad i made the trip down there this evening!

Looks like a great spot you have there for shooting birds. The only heron I've ever gotten close to was practically frozen. He never moved for almost an hour waiting for his breakfast to come by.
