I just saw some pics posted, taken with an FZ1 and an Olympus c-160 teleconverter. I see that they have the c-160, c-180, and c-210 in the ebay store for $9.95 each. They have a 52 mm thread. Does anyone know if and how they work with the FZ30 screwed into the 55/52 mm TRing?

Personally, I'd go for the Oly TCON17 teleconvertor for the FZ30 - its inexpensive and one of the best for the '30 according to Dr Shene's report. Here's the link
http://www.stevesforums.com/forums/v...mp;forum_id=23 http://www.cs.mtu.edu/~shene/DigiCam/User-Guide/FZ-30/ Whats's really interesting is that the Pana convertors were the best for the FZ10/20 but for the '30 they are not. HarjTT :| |

I agree with Harjtt.....but I bought each of those for a FZ10 and I paid 10 bucks each.
I am glad thats all I paid for them as the light fall of and vignetting was terrible with them. I threw one away (the 160) and I lost the C180 (not worth looking for) and I have the C210 and tried it on the FZ30 and was still disappointed. The Tcon17 is a good match for the FZ30. |

I tried the C-160 on my Oly C-2100 and it didn't work nearly as well on the C-2100as it doeson the FZ1 -there was just too much vignetting(sp). I also have the TCON 17 and it works perfectly on the C-2100, sogo with the advice you're getting about the TCON17 and the FZ30

Got it. Thanks. Well, I wasn't even planning to get an extra tele lens. If anything, zoom power is not what the FZ30 lacks, especially with the "extended optical zoom" feature. But I figured, for $10, what the heck? So, I put in a bid on ebay (prior to posting this, otherwise your answer would have dissuaded me) and see what comes of it. Will post my results when I get it.

Hi Rainer,
genece is perfectly right with his opinion. But here is my personal statistics with the FZ5: c-180 "good" shots 4, price 10 € tcon14b 0 shots , price 70€ I will not carry a lens around which is comparable to my camera in size and weight! Bad luck, B-300 and Tcon17 are perfect lenses too ...... I am using the C-180 sometimes for close-ups - combined with an achromat. .. and the quality of "the rose for betty" is enough for me. The lens of the FZ30 is different, so please report your personal results. Sven |

I do not know how they work with the FZ5 but here is how they work on the FZ30 and this is with Lovelifes Tring ..it would be worse with a stepring and on a FZ10 or 20. This is at 12X

sorry gene,
did not intend to annoy you! This was simply my personal opinion concerning weight/price vs. quality for the FZ5! My rose for betty was made with the remaining 3Mpixel (vignetting) and the FZ5. http://www.stevesforums.com/forums/v...mp;forum_id=23 We have to warn everyone about the quality of these lenses! Sven I will try not to answer any technical call again. |
