Finally got out to shoot w/new FZ30. Thought I would kill 2 Birds etc.. with this first post. I thought the attached shot has some nice curves but I would really appreciate some comments as to focus and other technical comments. I do not have Photoshop yet so how could it help w/PP. Thanks

I like the photo but since there is no exif ..I am not sure how you could improve it.
Maybe just post a little smaller size next time 600 X 800 works real well. And while I use PS because I have it...the gimp...Irfanview...and picasa are free and elements and PSP are not real expensive. |

this one would also benefit from some noise reduction - there's noticeable noise in the sky, which is a common problem with the FZ's (i often see that with my FZ20). Neat Image offers a free download "demo" version that does quite nicely, and Picture Cooler is another freeware option.
as to composition, i like the contrast and the curves, but i might have shot this in vertical format, and cropped or composed to get less of the straight top and bottom portions of the stem, and less sky on the sides... |

Reklaw, Interesting shot. I think the only things I would have done differently would have been to show the top of the stalk and as Squirl indicated, taken it in a vertical format. Jim
