Default panasonic fz45 camera

hi folk`s,
i am a pensioner trying to learn about my fz45 camera.
my problem is when i try and transfer my pictures from my camera to my laptop.

i have never had this happen before when i am transferring my pictures.
i connect my camera to my laptop, then i am asked if i want to use the scan, which i have done. no problems. but when i try and transfer it comes up on my screen.
[ the following error occurred while finding pictures and videos to import. the filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect ] then it gives me the option to retry, which i do. but i just keep on getting the same result.

i have connected my sony dsc-w170 to my laptop, this camera imports my pictures as it should.
i would appreciate any help, thank you in advance.

It is much easier to transfer the images by insering the memory card having pictures into the built in card reader in your laptop. If your laptop doesn't have a built in card reader, you can always plug in an external USB card reader. There is no need to connect the camera to the laptop at all.

G'day mate

Maybe also give this a try -

After connecting the camera & cable to the computer
delete any message that arrives on the screen

go to My Computer
look down the list of Devices

Q- do you see "Removable Device" ... or maybe "Digital Camera" ?
if -yes-

Double-click onto it to open it up
You will see a folder called DCIM ... [Digital Camera Images]
Double click to open it
You will see a folder called Panasonic - double click on it

Now you should see all your images displayed

Use everyday Windows copy ' n paste / cut 'n paste keys to transfer the images off the camera card and into the computer's My Pictures folder.
From there you can move 'em around till they end up in their final target folders - folders you create for your various types of photos that you take

Hope this helps a bit
