Does anyone know where I can find out ALL the features of Photoshop Elements 4? I dont think the Adobe web site is very specific, but I could be wrong. I.e., does it have a distortion feature like PS CS "Liquify"? Also, any advice on going with either the PaintShop Pro 10 or Elements 4?
Thanks!!!!!:? |

I do not know but why not download the trials of both and try them to see the features and which you like.

PE4 does have the Liquify filter - it has a surprising amount of the full CS capability and is good value for money. It's main drawbacksare the lack of support for channel separation and the Channel Mixer, and only partial support for Curves - so heavy duty editing will require the use of a separate application with full channel extraction support. Another shortcoming is only partial support for Actions.
The areas it excels in are Real-time previewsof effects and the ease and versatility of selection tools and layer support. In one area (image file management and indexing) it actuallyoutdoes even the full CS package. I have used earlier versions of PSP and Corel Photopaint (both quite capable packages) but not PSP10, so cannot comment on it specifically. I would imagine it is also a good tool - probably has a couple less limitations than PE4 but also probably does not quite match the overall usability and interface design of PE4. As Gene suggests, you may have to try both and see which one suits you best... |

Thank you both for your insight. I am not into a ton of editing and the Liquify feature is to entertain my kids more than anything. I think I will try them both, but it sounds like PS4 is the one I will lean towards.

Half way through the trial period on PSP X and I am impressed.
I will also try Elements before deciding. I like PSP X but it seems there are more third party options, RAW support etc for Abobe products. Also if you get real smart (or have money to waste) you can upgrade from elements to the full CS suite. With PSP there is no where to go. But I still think its great value! |

I appreciate your input. On ebay I bid on both progams and got:
Paint Shop Pro X with Photo Album for $35.00 I got Photoshop Elements 4 for $40.00 Cant afford CS and am no where close to being able to use all its benefits. Ebay seems to be a good place to find software, full version, new and current editions. Thanks again everyone. |

Does any of these programs support output to DVD? i.e. Slide Shows
I use Elements 3 and it does not know that DVDs' exist. Adobe Web Site tells you nothing. |

![]() I downloaded the AE4 trial. AFAIK It will output slideshows to VCD but not DVD. But most DVD players will show VCD. FWIW I also tried PSP X which is very good however AE4 is my pick. It handles Panasonic RAW easily. I will buy AE4. cheers, Max. Charlie_D wrote: Quote:
