RDS-BIF-Turkey Buzzards-Cliffs
Monday afternoon I went down to the lake to see if there were any Osprey left and to check on the Turkey Buzzards. I posted my Osprey photos yesterday and if you missed them and want to see them here is the link to the thread. http://www.stevesforums.com/forums/v...mp;forum_id=23 In the evening or early morning if you sit down at the top of these cliffs normally with in a couple of hours Turkey Buzzards will show up. They use the up-draft winds next to the cliffs to help them climb. These cliffs where I sit and wait are relaxing because you can hear the river below and every once in a while some sort of wildlife shows up. ![]() Here are the camera settings. Thanks to Mike from up North I now have changed the Exposure Bias: 0.33 to Zero. Camera Make: Panasonic Camera Model: DMC-FZ30 Image Date: 2006:09:18 17:06:28 Flash Used: No Focal Length: 45.1mm (35mm equivalent: 213mm) Exposure Time: 0.0050 s (1/200) Aperture: f/5.6 ISO equiv: 80 Exposure Bias: 0.33 White Balance: Auto Metering Mode: Matrix Exposure: program (Auto) Enough of this technical stuff. Here are the BIF"s Enjoy. ![]() ![]() ![]() TOTALLY WACKY roger FZ 30, Nikon TCE17, QuikAim Max RDS, Zeiss Digiscope/Sony W7 |

Nice shots Roger. Do you set up on top? If so you probably aren't more than 20 ft. below them when they come over the top of that ridge. There is a dam here the Buzzards some times use to gain altitude. I'm going back and try to get better shots than I did last time.

Roger, those are very, very nice buzzards shots. Something about that buzzard reminds me of my Ugly duckling post from yesterday.

Hi genece thanks for looking and commenting. No secret as far as the camera is concerned I have it in P mode and if I have time I use manual focus but not when they are moving. If they are moving I put the red dot on them press the shutter 1/2 to focus and when I hear the beep, burst mode starts. The one thing I do try and do is pick my spots I try to have the sun at my back and the wind in my face or at least sideways to me. I think I get a lot of chances because of the thinking that goes into the spots I pick.
I always enjoy your photos. When are you going to post some more we can all enjoy???? Does your wife let you use the FZ30???? TOTALLY WACKY roger FZ 30, Nikon TCE17, QuikAim Max RDS, Zeiss Digiscope/Sony W7 genece wrote: Quote:

Hi Roger,
You got some nice looking buzzards there. When photgraphed just right, they have a certain "majesty". Donna |
