The FZ5 is not perfect for astronomy, it does not even have an astronomic price! ;-)
Eight seconds exposure time is not enough for serious low light photography.
But the moon has daylight conditions.

It was time to test my "tcon100" again with this special piece of "cheese":

FZ5, 6* zoom, pentacon 1.8/50mm reversed, beroflex 8.0/500mm

Two 100% crops (sorry downside up..):

this one with 20% neatimage

tech - as shown before:
(as Fred once said: the frontlens is already half ways to the moon)

I hope somebody still likes pictures of "antique" cameras.

WOW!!! I feel like I am looking at a book on astronomy!!! Fantastic!!!!

Great shots! I am impressed! Donna

thanks Annie and Donna!

For those interested in the technique:

This combination of lenses has minimal purple fringing, so there are "converters" with more than 1.7 magnification!

To increase sharpness in this case, only the green channel was taken. Most lenses are optimized to focus on the green colours. The red and especially the blue channel show more "grain" (I like this word better than the N-word).
I tested neatimage, but the images looked as if a zero was added to my FZ5 at the end ;-) (sorry for that remark!)
Some playing with USM (circle 0.3 80%) and contrast........

Combining images with registax will increase the quality. What helps with webcams, will show some effect with the FZ5 too!

I second Harjtt. There is nothing else left except to have your own observatory.

So impressive that I have to add my own amazement at such fantastic pictures.

Must admit the technical explanation is way over my head.

Simply great, although not the best moon shot I have seen (but the best ones were shot with far more expensive tools)

Also the posted pic is amazing for its size, but at half width and with more sharpening it would be much better resolution-wise.

thanks for the kind remarks.

here is another one.....
