settings for movement/blur please

Hi, i want to take some shots of movement. Anything that is moving is fine to show blur but not sure what would be good settings to use. I know the pros here willl know. Still not getting to grips with this camera in the way i would like to.

you have to set it in shutter priority mode and then set the shutter speed as per your need... just focus and shoot.. set the exposure and zoom and focus as per your need.. however you will need a tripod for that.. else without a tripod it might result in complete pic failure... this is one of the pic i added in anothetr thread.. this was taken at shutter priority mode with value set to max at 8..

also another type of scene is panning.. that is there in the scene mode where it can make movement looks like very fast.. as in formula oen races pic.. however mastering the art of panning takes long.. but for initl start from shutter speed settings..



more you experiment the more you learn.. that what i am trying as of now and there are wonderful people here to help you..

if subject has to be blurred then slow shutter speed... if background has to be blurred then aperture priority..

If you want the subject to blur, that's pretty easy (I think). You set the shutter speed fairly slow in S mode (1/30-ish), hold the camera still and take the shot when the subject comes into view without moving the camera.

If you want the background to blur but your subject sharp, it's a bit more challenging (for me at least). Probably the best way is to use AF Tracking mode, then move the camera with the subject while you press the shutter.

try to set aperture priority mode. however more you zoom the aperture sieze will decrease and the number wil increase.. else other way is you can select

macro zoom .. then focus on your subject and back ground goes blur( out of focus)

this is for back ground blue.. else shutter priority is the best way... if you do not want to go to manual way right now.. go to creative modes and select shutter .. and you will have options there as well...

you need to use shutter priority and use slow shutter speed... something between 1/60 and 1/125...

Only testing you will see the correct shutter speed to get he results you want
