I would like to use a slave flash with my FZ-7, which, as you know, has no shoe or synch cord.
I have a perfectly good Vivitar SMS 40D flash from my film camera days, and was thinking of using a slave flash trigger with a bracket I already have. Would the Vivitar SL-2 triggerbe an appropriate choice? Or, can anyone suggest another alternative? I was going to just buy a slave flash, but the old vivitar I already have works great. If a new slave flash is the only choice, What is a good, reasonably priced alternative? |

These FZs have a measuring preflash even in manual mode!
(this should be called "cheap slave reduction") So we (FZ5, FZ7 ...) need a clever slave, triggering on the second flash. This is discussed in many places (even the FZ1 FAQ!)-example: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/re...228&page=1 Look for linuxworks in this thread - he uses a part from sunpak. There are also some DIY tricks, as you can see here: http://people.freenet.de/seemolf/light.html ....after all, it is a shame, that these expensive cameras do not have a flash connector. Sven |

Thanks for the response, Sven, very helpful.
The sunpak unit shown looks like a good bet. Jeff |
