Shooting in raw does not clear up or help in the issue of "noise".
Noise has been an issue for as long as I can remember going to these boards. Print what you shoot and then look for the "noise". I am not head over heels about the FZ30 but don't think that "noise" is a big deal. The features it has as described in the reviews about this camera puts it up there is one heck of a "prosumer" camera. When in "doubt", don't. Shoot with what you have and wait for the next best thing in six months. |

Yeah, that's where I am at. If I had not just bought the FZ20 9 mos. ago, I'd be getting the FZ30 in a minute, but I think this time around I am going to be happy with what I have and purchase my next camera next summer or so.

"PS: Don't get me wrong. I own the FZ20, and I LOVE it. But I am also aware of its limitations. Another thing that drives me nuts is that the burst mode is almost impossible to use with moving objects or sports action since both viewfinders freeze up during shooting." I have a Red Dot pointer that I use when shooting birds on the fly. Not expensive andmostly solvesthe blackout problem! Stan |

Really? How do you work it, where do I find it? Are you talking about one of those Laser pointers? How do you attach and align it? Would it work for far away sports action? I tried to install a little "optical viewfinder" (just a little plastic barrel, attached with velcro) to look through when following the action, but could not get it adjusted properly to lign up with the lens. I'd really like to come up with a fix for this because without being able to actually track the moving subject, the burst mode in these cameras is factually rendered uselessin my opinion. |
