They are so pretty, not often you catch one still like that.

Time to get busy. Well captured.

Do these guys live in your barn? You manage such nice pictures of them.

Ted, Rafael, and Steve thanks for viewing and commenting. The swallows are busy collecting hay for their nests and there is plenty enough on the ground around the barn where I feed the horses.

Ted, you are right they do not set still long. I hide in the stall and shoot through an opening.

Rafael, they are busy indeed flying back and forth with one piece of straw at a time, have to hurry before the eggs are ready.:-)

Steve, lately there have been some in the barn, but I don't think they are nesting yet in the barn. As noted above, they are gathering hay off the ground right at the end of the barn, where I feed the horses.

Thanks again for the comments.

Thanks again, Emmanuel. I really hope that they don't start nesting in the barn, as I don't know if I can take the fall out:-).

Nice pick!

They seem to look very different to the european ones I know.coloring completly different...have you seen them drink? They zip over the surface of the pond and put the lower half of their beak in the water and scoop some up..sometimes it is several gulps in one straight line...making several concentric rings after the other...

Cheer,
RealMash

Thanks, Real. I always appreciate your comment. Normally, they are are moving so fast, and zig zagging, I can never get a good in flight shot. If they were not gathering nesting materials, I doubt I would have gotten this.
