I kid you not squirl. This shot was taken during "warm-up" with the pool full of swimmers. I believe the shutter was open for 6 seconds. Try it out, it's pretty fun.
Tomorrow I will post some new shots of the club's coach standing at the pool's edge looking into an empty pool but in actuality there will be 20 swimmers in the water.:-) |

Well, Spy, the second picture is taken at 6s, f/8 and the first at 1/30s, f/2.8 so it is not surprising that the motion is completely blurred. I don't deny that it is an intriguing pair of pictures and I only responded because the trend of the thread seemed to be attributing magic properties to the use of a polariser. I think you would get the same effects by using the same apertures, shutter speeds and a neutral density filter.

I agree, arrow.
I often use the polarizer outdoors with the aim to darken the environment, like when I shot at cascaded which are somewhat brightened and i aim to further decrease light (thus pairing the polarizer with F8 aperture and eventually a tripod) to get 1/8 sec or longer times in order to show the motion of water, as here: ![]() |

Narmer, stunning picture!
![]() The pictures below are from this morning swim practice. Picture#1 shows 2 coaches teaching 14 swimmers total. Not all are shown in the shot because the pic wasn't wide enough. Picture #2 is of one of the coaches looking into an empty pool but he is actually watching the 14 swimmers swimming lanes. |

If you look to the right side of the coach, you can barely see the second coach walking away. |
