Hi,
Decided to head into the city and try out the WA lens and I was pretty happy with the results. It is soft and all images have been sharpened but once that has been done the images look good in my opinion. All photos taken in "A" mode at ~f5.2 Comments welcome and appreciated. Treemonkey |

I prefer #2, but I would correct the barrel distortion. There's also a bit of vignetting at the bottom corners. I guess that wouldbe fairlydifficult to fix. #4 is nice, but there's a lot of noise in the sky. Maybe it's a result of resizing for the web. Overall, very nice stuff with some views of Sydney that I've never seen before.

I was hoping to avoid the issue of vignetting with the 58mm thread on the SRW but as I have a 62mm adapter I need a step ring. I tried to remove it from the top corners but didnt bother about the bottom ones. #4 must have been taken at iso 100 rather than 50 (was taking some photos of birds earlier and I forgot to change it back) but I kind of like the effect. These are all wonderful! Number one and number four are my favorites. The Raynox 6600 is about as good as it gets interms of WA for a digicam but you do need to do a bit of post work, mostly because it vignettes slightly and the requisite sharpening. Surprised the larger thread size still resulted in vignetting. I would have made the same assumption as you.

BTW, whatzoom setting were used? I just completed a study of the most popular lenses used on the FZ10, 15 and 20 cameras. I set up two galleries that show scenes at progressive magnifications using all the lenses. I believe my DCR6600 setup produces less vignetting. Do you agree? Date Taken: 2005-05-19 09:53:25 Make: Panasonic Model: DMC-FZ10 Size: 2304x1728 Bytes:821054 Aperture: f/4.6 ISO: 50 Focal Length: 6mm (36mm 35mm) Exposure Time: 0.0015s (10/6400) JPEG Quality: fine Flash: Flash did not fire, compulsory flash mode Exposure Program: Aperture priority ![]() and I do not use step rings. I guess it is the nature of the product. It was not designed for the camera it just happens to work and work very well. Whether you clone or crop the picture the excellent light transmission, increased field of dimension with mild distortion makes it a winner in my camp. This link will take you to complete series http://lovelife.smugmug.com/Other/79692. If you do want wade through the complete sequence your can enter a search for DCR6600, DCR250, DCR1540, DCR2020, Tcon 07, Tcon 14B or Leica in the top right corner. |
