I have used and owned both.
TCON 17 will thread directly onto your FZ30 (hopefully on your UV fliter!). DCR2020 will require 55-62 step up ring. TCON17 has "better glass", imho. (I sold my DCR2020). Hope this helps! |

I agree with digicamfan.... the Raynox can take great photos but seems to miss focus a lot.....maybe if you are real good at manual focus.
One other thing the Raynox vignettes up to 6X so if something is very close to you while you have it on you must remove it.....thats better than it was with the FZ20 but still not a good feature. ( vignettted to 12X on the FZ20) You hear people say about CA on the TCon17 but its non existant compared to the raynox. One thing I have mentioned before is get the Tcon17 and then pick up a Tcon14 on Ebay. (Not a 14B). and when you need extra zoom stack them. the quality of those lenses stacked will be very similar to the raynox . IMHO |

It seems to me to work very well with the TCon 17 and its much smaller, lighter and cheaper.
The 14B does work though if you have one. |

Yes that is correct 55 to 46 stepdown ring and for what its worth that Tcon14 has a spring loaded clip of sorts so I glue that stepring on to make it solid.

Digicamfan and Genece
Thank You both very much. Now that is the kind of information I really needed to make up my mind. That is what I call useful knowledge from experienced users. A novice, newbe, like myself trying to learn terminology appreciate this kind of advice. Which proves that price does not always buy better. I shall get the T-con17. Thanks again. Bayourebel |
