Fred

Thanks for posting the links the TZ1 - looks a weee bit interesting. Venus III, only 10x Optical but with ISO800-1600, a high res 205k LCD and still using a 1/2.5" CCD. Now looking at the pic of the TZ1 it looks as if Pana just designed a handgrip for an LX1 and plonked a 10x lens in the case. Now why would one buy this over the FZ7 or FZ5 even ?

Too much stuff coming out at once. I'm going to have to wait for the dust to settle. With all these "High Sensitivity" cameras (Fuji as well) coming into play, it's getting a little busy -though presumably less noisy. Thank goodness I have my trusty FZ5 to keep me occupied. I would really like to get a 5-6mp wide angle compact with IS (fx01 is 28mm - nice) that's infrared sensitve. That doesn't seem to be high on anyone else's list of desirabe features, however. Boo-hoo.

Hi Fred

Just noticed the new Fuji FX30 - ISO3200 at full resolution for P&S ! Now Fuji are really pushing sensor technology for the P&S's just hope Pana and the others take note.

I think its going to get real busy in the next few weeks leading up to PMA2006.

Cheers

Ok.. I'm replyign to my own post but I just spotted this on the Lumix website regards the TZ1 and the ISO 800 -

"TZ1 allows shooting at a manually adjustable sensitivity setting of up to ISO 800 in full resolution, thanks to the greatly improved noise reduction levels which are achieved by the separate detection of both chromatic and luminance noise by the newly developed high performance image processor, the Venus Engine III."

ISO800 at full res - 6MP - now how did they manage to do that with a 1/2.5" sensor?
