Well, almost run out of insects to shoot, and almost 7pm....quite dark, than I spotted the weaver ant with a larvae. The nest was quite small, so I thought must be few ants inside, and since I also dunno what was inside, I peeled open the leaf quickly, and OUT CAME THE QUEEN!!! Yikes! It was huge! First time seeing it, and I think I have seen it before, with wings, but did not know they were Queen designate!

Dear Tchuanye
I don't know if I am more astonished by the pictures in themselves or the miracles of nature which you so brilliantly document. Another thing that continues to amaze me is that, even if now you arenot anymore the only one to great macros, there is always something in your pics (either the quality in itself or the new creatures you stumble in or the nature circumstances) which makes themtop-class photos and a true (not only visual) emotion. For a newbie, like myself, I can only echo, echo, what has already been stated. I would love to see what you would have done inmy beehives, about 20 years ago. I bet you would have captured photos of the mite that killed off many hives then, before we even knew we had a problem.
Great photos. |

Those are some really great photos and some very interesting ants! They almost look like someone created them out of copper or brass.
I have to agree with Narmer. If I take a picture of an ant, I get a picture of an ant. You take a picture of an ant and you create art. I guess that's the difference between being a guy with a camera, and being a photographer. Good show! |
