Thanks for the comments.
Vaiboy, that shot is excellent....was it taken on a carpet or similar? Rodo, you need a closeup lens for the fz20 to get shots of species this small...I use a raynox DCR150 macro lens attachment....although the DCR250 which is more powerful again is more popular. The standard FZ20 lens is ok for larger stuff like butterflies or dragonflies though. Other than that, all of my macros are shot in A mode, at F8 for maximum depth of field, with the majority taken using the onboard flash, heavily diffused. Depending on the circumstances I tend to shoot at fairly slow shutter speeds to avoid the flash being too obvious in my shots.....even down to 1/25th of a second or so....the flash still being effective at freezing the subject at such speeds. Hope that helps..... Mark |

Cool...the first one i came across the other day was on top of the rubbish in the bin, not the best of backgrounds for a decent shot lol....this one was crawling around on the back lawn...a much more photograph friendly setting

Neat shot!!! As I have said, bugs look so different when you see them that close up!!! and hard to believe that you did not use a macro lens, well done!

Thanks Annie. You must have misread my earlier post regarding lenses....this was taken with my usual DCR-150 lens. Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for the comments Raf and Pete.
There are others on this forum who I feel use the fz20 to far greater effect than myself Pete, although I appreciate the kind comments. Looking at some of their shots I feel I have some way to go too to match their standards(if ever). It`s always nice to see what a camera can achieve in the hands of a good photographer, and it`s what has kept me persevering when I was struggling(which i still am at times). Mark |
