went back to the duck pond today, although very cold (1 degree above freezing) the winter sun was low and bright, so i figured i owed it to myself, and the fz to try and get it right.

here's what i managed in an hour (after that i couldnt feel my fingers lol)

improved??

regards,
john

Nice. How did you get them to pose like in first two?!

thanks raghu,

i took note of their bathing rituals last time i was there and noticed they do this whenever they cleaned themselves in the water. i ran out of light last time, but this time the sun was nice and bright. maybe even too bright at times. (darn low winter sun). unfortunately though, they only seem to do this in the middle of the water, farthest from the bank where you can shoot them from. so again the sharpness isnt as good as it would have been if i had a teleconverter lens, but im happy with the composition so i thought it worth posting. theyre not very trusting creatures at this pond, due to the pond being shared with a local model radio controlled boat club, so they tend to go wherever i am not lol. but it was fun none the less even though it was freezing!

i got one set pictures of male and female mates, doing the wing beating pose at the same time, captured in burst mode. it looks great but not quite good enough for on here. if you want to try your pp talents on it youre more than welcome?

Beautiful series, the poses are really curious, humorous and original. Good job John!

I like that shot of the two ducks. Mallards are always great subjects. I bet they would come closer if you had some duck food.
