When I first spotted this moth I thought it had two heads ! He was backed into the flower and the two feelers(?) at the back of his wings were deep in the flower, busily probing about as if searching for something to eat. This went on for several minutes. Sure raised my curiousity about what was going on here, any ideas ?

The only think I can think is that is exactly what it's doinge eating nector. Nice capture BTW, # 1 is my favorite.

Nice capture tinosa. I think it was laying eggs.

I have never seen one with feelers on the rear, when I first looked at the shot I thought the rear was the head also, good find and shooting.

This is an Eastern Tailed Blue butterfly, and they are just strange. It would be more probable that it was laying eggs if it was alegume flower since family is what they use. I will go with eating nector. Even a footprint of nector from a bee would be enough for one of these little butterflies.

Nice shot but I have no idea what it was doing.

Great info Steve, I may have to do a little reseach on this interesting critter.

This is not a very good shot, but if you are lucky enough to find a male with his wings open they look like this. Females are a bit darker.
