with the Canon in the infirmary, i took my trusty FZ20 up to explore a small lake i'd heard about in the mountains east of Seattle... this was dug out back in the 1980's for gravel to build Interstate 90, and over the years filled up with snow melt and water from a few small streams. now it's a clear, cold mountain lake... here are a few pics from the excursion...

first glimpse of the lake...

as i walked around the lake, the angle of the sun and the reflected color of the wooded mountainsides turned the water to emerald...

from the far end of the lake, sun behind me now...

Superb sharpness in these shots Squirl, gorgeous scenery too.....hard to choose a favourite of the three, all are equally impressive

Those are some great shots. Sometimes I wished I lived in areas like that instead of flat Florida. The last one is my favorite.

This post is worth saving to look at when it is in the 90's and muggy here. A nice trio of shots.

Very nice and serene. Wonder if it has been stocked with fish. Look like an angler's dream.

Nice series Squirl. Very nice view. Surprised to see there is still snow on the mountain top.

What a great series and what a beautiful part of the world you live in!

thanks for all the nice comments! this is a beautiful part of the world, when the weather's nice... in winter, when it's gray and cold and drizzly for weeks on end, it's not nearly so pleasant! this spot is about 50 miles from my house; an hour's drive or less to completely get away from traffic, stoplights, long lines, crowds... even on a perfect spring day, there were hardly any people there! :G

Hell yeah, very nice images squirl. Definitily worth the drive if you ask me. :)

OK. so I get to be jelous of the scenery AND the photos. Both terrific. The inverted V reflection in the third shot makes it my favourite.
