Why the length of the Leica DC-Vario Elmarit 12 x zoom on FZ20 looks so short anditis so long on the FZ30. Isn't both are of the same lens?

The only difference between the FZ20 ad FZ30 is the lens on the FZ20 is f2.8 across the whole range while the FZ30's is slightly slower - f2.8 @35mm and [email protected]

As well as that, the lens on the FZ30 is mechanically linked while the FZ20 has an electronically linked lens. Which basically means FZ30 can go from wide to telephoto as fast as your hands can turn the ring while the FZ20 requires you to wait as the lens passes through the spectrum.

The lens on the FZ30 is larger because the native focal lengths are longer. The FZ30 has a much large sensor and delivers much higher quality images than the FZ10/20. As a FZ10 owner who has used a friend's FZ30, the improvement per $$$ is amazing.
