Manage to capture another Wide-Jawed Viciria jumping spider, now w/o the prey, and the arms are really wide. Its quite skittish and tend to run away from the sun, and hide beneath the leaf. Everytime I turn the leaf over, it will run to the other side! So had to hold the leaf with one hand and shoot with the other...had a lot of missed shots.
These are the better few ones. Appreciate any comments! Thanks! ![]() FZ10+6T+Sigma CU, Ex bounce flash, ISO 50, F8, various shutter speed. #1: Prone 1/125s ![]() #2: Wide Jaws 1/160s ![]() #3:Face 1/160s ![]() |

Absolutely great
Tchuanye these are nearly on par with the best Jumping spiders shotsyou ve ever done. They are so lovely beautiful animals. I have a 20 pages article on jumping spiders from National Geographic 180 vol. 3 (September 1991) with great images too. Yes Tiger, they have 8 eyes (in the first pic you casn see all the four right eyes). That's just a female of Viciria Praemandibularis from Singapore http://www.infochembio.ethz.ch/links..._springsp.html |

Your macro shots are always fantastic!! As good as I've ever seen if not better. How in the world do you get these guys to stay in the frame long enough to focus?

Thanks Nizidramanii!
Tiger98, all spiders have 8 eyes. This spider is a female, and the male is black in colour ....very pretty too...saw it in Phuket....but it ran away b4 I got a good shot of it. You can see it here: http://habitatnews.nus.edu.sg/guideb...ndibularis.htm Narmer, Thanks! d-sr, thanks! Like I said....I had MANY missed shots. I don't use AF, but MF and move the camera....its faster and easier to take the shot. I held the leaf with one hand, and when it is still just for the moment, move camera in till it appear sharp and snap....sometimes you get it sometimes you don't. |

Orange on green provides a brilliant contrast. As always, your macros are a treat to watch!
