sorry for all the different sizes....still new at this....I could not use a tripod at all as they are not allowed due to blocking pathways for the other visitors...I did try to get closer with the camera but most would not focus so I am not sure if this is when a macro lens would be used? Appreciate any comments....thanks....

Pretty nice shots. Camera cannot focus when to close to the subject. The macro lens will let you focus alot closer.
The shot with butterfly with the black and white wings came out great !! Congratulations. Keep sharing ! |

good pictures, most of the time butterflies see me coming from far and leave before i can get the change to get close enough. I like the last one best. Ronny

Nice set of photos, especially considering no add-on lens or tripod was used.
Seems like in this case a monopod would have been useful. I don't imagine they'd have a problem with that, but you never know. Looks like a neat place. Thanks for sharing! |

thanks for the comments...they do not allow the monopods either....you are allowed to go in two hours earlier to photography with a tripod or monopod but you have to have at least a group of 8 or more....and this was just a small outing with Nikki before school started...she started to get bored after a while so I had to go...

Very nice shots, Annie, several of the butterflies came out very well!! We've a similar "house of butterflies" nearby (Stockholm) and I can seethe same species in your shots.
If you're thinking about a macro lens well fit for this kind of shooting, a lens with the power of about +3 diopters should be fine. If it's too strong it can't be used handheld. Keep on sharing! |
