Greetings!
Hello! Im new here my name is Richie Garcia from Manila.

Anyways I recently purchased 2nd hand Leica Digilux 2 on ebay. I have been using the camera for about a month everything seemed perfect till I used the manual focus. The little screen that maginfies to assist focus has lines on them. Has anyone encountered this same problem? I have checked the lens and reset all the setting of the camera. The lines appear when I use the focus assist. With the magnification turned off there are no lines. This is my 2nd digilux 2 my first one was stolen I never had lines when using focus assist.

Pls do help!

Richie Garcia

hi Richie
sounds like something is on its way out doesnt it
is the camera still in warranty ?
Leica have longer warranty than most
as a workaround, use the autofocus

Richie
im not sure that is a sensor issue, in fact i dont think it is
it could be the EVF (electronic viewfinder)
or maybe something on the circuit board

in which case is would NOT be supported by the sensor replacement program Leica have going. It is a straight out fault instead.

so you either have warranty to cover it,
or you pay for it.
or you put up with autofocus instead

if it was me, i would use autofocus

Hi Richie

Rileys spot on regrads the warranty with the D2. I think Leica sold them with a 2 year warranty and they have been excellent from what I've seen on the Leica forum for repairing them. I would contact Leica and see what they say, you never know it may be something fairly simple to repair and get it all done under the warranty.

Cheers

You might want to have a look at this news article about sensor problems in that camera:

richie, your problem is certainly unusual; i have not noticed those lines in my D2 when is switch to manual focus. whether it merits a trip to the manufacturer is really a question for you. while it doesn't sound serious, it is undoubtedly annoying you. the D2 comes with a 3-year warranty.

that's great news for D2 owners. i'm glad to see leica standby its customers and offer that added level of service.
