My Digilux 2 stopped working recently. i checked with leica agent to see the problem. they provided a quote of $750 fo repair. is it worth repairing paying $750/-. It seems the circuit board need to be replaced? please provide me with some advise.. Will i get any value if i try to sell it as is basis?

Dear Riley,

Thanks for your response. The camara worked fantastic while it worked. The camera does not power up!. it does not have any external damage and never have been droped or mishandled. One day, while i was taking picture, the LCD started bllinking and the power just went off. Since then its dead, no power. I was in a high moisture region, i reckon it got short circuited due to high moisture. Leica USA diagnosed it as the circuit board problem and suggested replacing it with a cost of $750 and will give one year guarantee on it. i am not too sure this is worth it. i appreciate your input. i am attaching a picture of the camera.

Joseph
there have been reports of sensor failures in Digilux 2 cameras, and Leica AG have commited to repair them free, even though they may be out of warranty. Im not certain yours is a sensor failure, but I do know that D2 sensor failures have been because of high humidity moisture, but not always.

You could also find your way the the Leica User Forum, who may be able to help you some more as to further diagnosing the fault.

Im thinking $750 is a lot of money for a repair, so you either need to be certain of the facts, or know when to quit on it. D2's have been sold on ebay with non power up faults, I recall one that had been in the sea, yet still returned a little over $150. You need to compare prices on ebay to see if its worth it

cheers and good luck

Riley
